Hazeltine National Golf Club sits about three miles from my studio, from where I am now writing this post. It was the site of the PGA Tournament which ended a couple of hours ago. I'm not a big fan of golf, but my man won the trophy. Y. E. Yang is a short guy, I'm 5'6"...he is virtually unknown, ditto...and he took down Goliath also known as Tiger. Me, I'm working on that one!
I was there Monday. One in a crowd. Waiting there patiently, hole 17. Tiger was going to pass thru sometime soon. So I stood and stared at the manicured lawns, observing the light and shadows and the lay of the green hinted at by subtle modulations. I waited about an hour and then it happened, an electric charge surged through the gallery. The viewing holes before me plugged, personal space compressed, conversations stopped in mid sentence, movement was forward. He was coming, one in a distant pack of moving bodies. He passed close to me, his form interupted by the silouette of adoring fans. And it hit me. This is what it must of been like when the Master walked by, when Jesus moved amongst man.
So there's my challenge. That moment when something out of the ordinary, something electric and radiant, beyond the natural...the super natural happens. When born from above you are connected to it, to Him. Now we live in Him. To see our potential linked to Him, whether we golf or paint or blog, for now He lives in us, on every fair way we walk. I paint, and in Thy light shall I see light.
Above is Courthouse Lake in beautiful Chaska. Site of where size matters little. Where the unexpected...happened...and will keep happening...for He moves among us!
