Thankful Reflections

Thank you all that came to my reception Wednesday evening at the Minneapolis Club in downtown Minneapolis. Like many of you I live in the suburbs of the big city, and I realize the effort it takes to make your way into downtown, intentionally heading into the metro-grid that is already stuffed with traffic and mayhem in order to attend this event. It is akin to salmon and their journey upstream to spawn. The five o’clock to seven time window being near to the height of the exodus of city workers.
So again a big thank you! It warmed my heart incredibly to have seen all the faces of individuals, including many struggling artists, help me to celebrate the chance to exhibit my framed expressions of thought. As I think about it, the salmon spawning analogy can summarize this whole idea of turning a blank canvas into a work of art. It does take effort and determination to continue through to the end to successfully complete the process of the realization of a finished painting. And dog gone it, much of it is like swimming upstream. Yes inspiration is less like a waterfall, and more like bear bordered jump into a higher pool of self actualization. And when we land in that pool above we look around and question whether we’ve... arrived.
But it’s a continual climb. Yet another jump is compelling us. Banish the thought of security at this current level; we are drawn to the far end. We are pressed, yea, compelled to not rest on our laurels, we must jump…again.
So here I am. Thanks’ for coming along on the journey. Thanks for the encouragement and for the companionship. Thanks for this soothing friendship. Let’s keep going, to the next level…I trust… Happy landing!
